Preview - NBA Playoff Game 5: New Orleans Hornets vs. Los Angeles Lakers 04/26/2011
The Los Angeles Lakers find themselves knotted at 2-2 in their first-round series with the Hornets.
The Lakers were in a similar jam last year in their first-round series against Oklahoma City . The Lakers escaped that one, and will look to do the same this time around, starting tonight when Los Angeles plays host to game five.
Besides trying to stop Hornets guard Chris Paul, the Lakers face another issue. Kobe Bryant is limping on a sprained left ankle that might be a bit more serious than the countless injuries he has managed through in the past few seasons.
The injury occurred in Sunday's 93-88 loss in New Orleans . Bryant received extensive treatment on Monday, but he declined to undergo any further examination of the injury through X-rays or MRI.
Lakers coach Phil Jackson was confident, though, that Bryant will be ready to go. “It doesn't matter, he's going to play anyway,” Jackson said.
The Lakers have an embarrassing off-the-court incident lingering as well. Police say forward Derrick Caracter was arrested in New Orleans early Sunday. Caracter, who has yet to make a playoff appearance, was arrested after allegedly grabbing and shoving the cashier at an International House of Pancakes.
