For example, the new wave of athlete-hosted podcasts has produced endless hours of entertaining content and James has done well for himself with his “Mind the Game” podcast. The podcast initially featured James and Lakers head coach JJ Redick, but Steve Nash replaced the latter once he joined the sidelines.

“Mind the Game” does a great job of breaking down the finer points of basketball from a strategy and scheme perspective to X’s and O’s. The program has also had several high-profile guests such as Luka Doncic and Tyrese Haliburton.

Now, the podcast is getting another celebrity guest as Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet will be joining James and Nash for a special live recording next week, via the official Marty Supreme X account:

The taping will occur after a special screening of Chalamet’s film “Marty Supreme,” which explores the life of Marty Mauser who chased after ping pong greatness. The film initially premiered on Dec. 25, 2025 and received positive reviews from critics, particularly for Chalamet’s portrayal of Mauser. Prior to his role in “Marty Supreme,” Chalamet rose to fame after starring in the blockbuster “Dune” films as well as other works such as “Wonka” and “A Complete Unknown.”

Like a lot of other celebrities, Chalamet is an avid basketball fan who was seen at several games during the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Chalamet even took in Game 5 between the Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves wearing a Kobe Bryant T-shirt, much to the joy of the purple and gold faithful.

However, Chalamet is a die-hard New York Knicks fan who can often be seen courtside so he’ll likely have a lot to say about his favorite team when he sits down with James and Nash. For fans of Chalamet and basketball, the episode will surely have plenty of fun insights and conversations.

LeBron James reacts to reaching 43,000 career points

LeBron James owns several NBA records, including the most points scored in league history. James has always prided himself for being a willing passer and playmaker, but he’s also been one of the best scorers ever because he finds ways to improve his game each year.

Against the Boston Celtics, James became the first player to score 43,000 career points and he expressed his gratitude for the impressive milestone.

LeBron James Discusses Luka Doncic Pass & Final Sequence Of Lakers’ Loss To Magic https://lakersnation.com/lebron-james-discusses-luka-doncic-pass-final-sequence-of-lakers-loss-to-magic/ Thu, 26 Feb 2026 01:10:41 +0000 https://lakersnation.com/?p=259085 The Los Angeles Lakers had an opportunity to end their home stand on a high note, but came up just short in an extremely tight game against the Orlando Magic. Both teams went back and forth down the stretch, but the Magic were able to get the final bucket on an offensive rebound putback and LeBron James’ 3-pointer to win the game for the Lakers was offline.

The Lakers started off strong and led throughout most of the game, with the biggest lead being 12 points which they reached early in the second half. But the Magic were able to claw back into it and when discussing where it went wrong, LeBron just felt that the Lakers weren’t able to get stops when they needed it down the stretch.

“I don’t know,” James said after the loss. “There were a lot of plays, obviously a lot of bang-bang plays to finish that game off. We made shots. We couldn’t get that two-possession [lead]. We go up three, come down hit a three, we go up three again, they come down, get an and-one, we go up two and they take the lead.  It was just like we couldn’t get a stop, a key stop. It cost us all way until the end.”

The final possession for the Lakers was also a bit confusing as Luka Doncic had an open look on the designed play, but hesitated and passed it to LeBron, who was forced into a very difficult shot.

“I thought we had a good opportunity. Luka came off clean,” James noted. “I think he felt off balance, but we executed. We didn’t get the shot that we wanted. We did execute it and it doesn’t go down.”

As far as what exactly happened on that last play, James was unsure as to why Doncic passed on his open shot believing he possibly felt off balance.

“We executed. Like I said, I’m not sure,” LeBron said. “Obviously you’ll have to ask Luka what he saw on that. But I thought he had a good look and it felt like he kind of just lost his balance, didn’t have a rhythm with the ball, whatever the case may be. And it kind of allowed them to get back in front of him. And I was kind of off-balance when he gave it to me. I thought he had a great look. That’s my POV.”

The Lakers had the game in their hands, but failures to execute on both ends of the court in the final minute ultimately did them in and that final possession will be one that is replayed in their heads.

Lakers’ Luka Doncic explains final possession vs. Magic

As LeBron James said, only Luka Doncic would know exactly what happened on that final possession for the Lakers against the Magic and the superstar explained why he passed on the shot and what went wrong in the loss.

Lakers News: LeBron James Reacts To Reaching 43,000 Career Points https://lakersnation.com/lakers-news-lebron-james-reacts-to-reaching-43000-career-points/ Wed, 25 Feb 2026 00:40:34 +0000 https://lakersnation.com/?p=259049 Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has accomplished so much in his illustrious career that it’s easy to forget that he currently holds the record for most points scored in NBA history.

James’ records are largely built on his longevity, preparing his mind and body each season to perform at the highest levels. LeBron is currently in the midst of playing a historic Year 23 in the NBA and he remains one of the best players in the league.

The Lakers are counting on James to lead them back to the Finals alongside Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, though the trio appears to still be finding its groove. For example, the three stars were unable to get much going against the Boston Celtics who took control in the second quarter and never looked back.

While the Lakers suffered an ugly loss, James achieved another career milestone as he became the first player in NBA history to reach 43,000 career points. He celebrated his latest achievement on his personal Instagram account:

It feels like James hits a new milestone every few games now and that’s a testament to his willingness to do what’s necessary to keep himself as productive as possible. LeBron’s numbers are technically down across the board this season, but that’s largely because he’s ceded control to Doncic and Reaves.

However, when Los Angeles needs a basket James is still a solid option to have as he can generate a shot from any spot on the floor. The lack of explosiveness and athleticism has begun to show on certain possessions, but there’s still nothing like seeing James sprint down the floor in transition or driving down the middle of the paint once he’s gotten past a defender.

It remains to be seen if James continues to play after this season, but he does decide to return it’s hard to imagine him slowing down. He has proven that he can defy Father Time, something that teammates like Rui Hachimura believe won’t be appreciated until the Lakers star retires.

Luka Doncic believes chemistry with LeBron James and Austin isn’t there yet

On paper, a roster featuring Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves should be considered a contender but the trio has yet to fully find its footing on the floor yet. Even Doncic admitted that he feels like the chemistry with his co-stars isn’t quite there yet but said they’re working on it.

LeBron James: Jaylen Brown Belongs In MVP Conversation Despite Previous Comments About Bronny https://lakersnation.com/lebron-james-believes-jaylen-brown-belongs-in-mvp-conversation-despite-previous-comments-about-bronny/ Tue, 24 Feb 2026 00:50:22 +0000 https://lakersnation.com/?p=259030 Like the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James has his own beef with the Boston Celtics dating back to his time in the Eastern Conference.

James and the Celtics faced off numerous times in the playoffs, with the former gaining the upper hand as a member of the Miami Heat. However, James later saw the rise of the Celtics, most notably Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown who have become the best wing tandem in the league.

Tatum has been out for the 2025-26 season due to an Achilles injury, leaving Brown to lead Boston. So far, he’s done an excellent job keeping them atop the Eastern Conference and put on a show against Los Angeles.

The Lakers lost to the Celtics 111-89 and afterward James gave Brown his credit for taking his game to the next level.

“I think he’s just used the motivation of a lot of people saying that they’re gonna have a down year because of obviously [Jayson Tatum] being out, them losing Jrue (Holiday), Al (Horford), (Kristaps) Portzingis, their whole championship team pretty much has kind of revamped. He used it at motivation to keep them afloat. They’re playing great basketball and it’s because of him and the rest of those guys. He’s taken that next step,” he said.

James also noted that he and Brown have a solid relationship despite the latter’s comments about his son Bronny James when he was sitting courtside at a Summer League game in 2024.

“Our relationship has been pretty respectful, besides the shit he said about Bronny at Summer League. But other than that, we’ve be alright. We’ll be alright. I think he went on social media and said something about it, it’s all good. Bronny got a lot way to go, but that’s another story.”

Ultimately, James said he thinks Brown should be in the MVP conversation and wondered aloud why his name isn’t brought up more.

“He’s playing great basketball… This whole MVP thing, I don’t understand why his name is not getting talked about some as well,” James said. “Nobody gave them a shot to start the season, and he’s averaging like what, 30? Just under 30. It’s a popularity contest sometimes… I don’t know the criteria of MVP anymore. I stopped giving a damn about it a long time ago. I got my own personal issues about it.”

Jaylen Brown responds to praise from LeBron James

Brown heard James’ comments an expressed his gratitude to receive such high praise from the Lakers star.

“I’m grateful. It’s an honor to play in the Celtics-Lakers rivalry. It’s an honor for LeBron, who’s arguably the best player to ever play the game, giving me some high praise. So, I’m just grateful. I wake up every morning grateful (and) humbled.”

Brown is clearly able to lead a team to victory, something James has to respect as a fellow competitor. Unfortunately, though, it looks like Los Angeles has a ways to go to catch up to a team like Boston.

Lakers News: Luka Doncic Feels Chemistry With Austin Reaves & LeBron James Is Not There Yet https://lakersnation.com/lakers-news-luka-doncic-feels-chemistry-with-austin-reaves-lebron-james-is-not-there-yet/ Tue, 24 Feb 2026 00:30:26 +0000 https://lakersnation.com/?p=259045 The Los Angeles Lakers have one of the best trios of superstars in the NBA between Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves and LeBron James. In particular, on offense, those three can cause all kinds of issues for the opposition as all three can attack the rim, shoot and are excellent playmakers with high IQs who can create for others as well.

Unfortunately though, they have not had a lot of time on the court together this season to really build up that chemistry. Because of injuries, Doncic, James and Reaves have played just 12 games together this season and are still not quite clicking.

Following the Lakers’ loss to the Boston Celtics, Doncic spoke on this, admitting that the group isn’t where they want to be, but still believing they have a ton of potential.

“I think you see that we’re not there yet,” Doncic said after the loss. “Like I said, we’re working on it. But there should be big potential about us three playing together.”

No matter how talented players are, there needs to be a lot of game reps in order for everything to lock in and these three just haven’t had that this season. LeBron missed the beginning of the season due to sciatica and then Reaves was out for basically a month and a half with his calf injury. And while Luka hasn’t dealt with any major injury, he has had to sit out games here and there due to minor ailments and issues.

This trio still has a ton of potential as Doncic noted, especially with the right role players around them, they just need to figure out the right lineups to really maximize what they are capable of. And now that they are all healthy, head coach JJ Redick and the Lakers coaching staff will try out all possibilities and see what works best.

The Lakers still have plenty of time to come together down the stretch of the season and if Doncic, James and Reaves can come together and reach their potential, they will be a very tough team to deal with once the postseason arrives.

Austin Reaves admits he and Lakers can’t stay frustrated at officials

One self-inflicted issue that has plagued the Lakers this season is that they have a tendency to chirp at the officials. Austin Reaves spoke on this, admitting that he and the Lakers must do a better job at not staying frustrated at the refs and letting it spill over into their play.
