Lakers Hire Jim Cleamons as Assistant Coach

The Los Angeles Lakers have hired Jim Cleamons as an assistant coach it was announced today by Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak.
Cleamons, who previously served as an assistant coach with the Lakers from 1999-2004, re-joins the team after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the New Orleans Hornets. During his prior stint with the Lakers Cleamons helped guide the team to three consecutive NBA Championships in 2000, 2001 and 2002 as well as an NBA Finals appearance in 2004. In his five years with Los Angeles, the Lakers posted a 287-123 (.700) record.
“I am very pleased that Jim is returning to the Lakers coaching staff,” said Lakers head coach Phil Jackson. “Having worked with Jim for over twelve years, I know what assets he brings to a team. His knowledge of the game and his ability to communicate with players are qualities which make him such a good coach. He will be a welcome addition to an already outstanding coaching staff and I look forward to working with him again.”
