Bryant and Lakers down Grizzlies
Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Kobe Bryant scored 21 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out six assists to lead the Los Angeles Lakers over the Memphis Grizzlies, 91-81, at Staples Center.
Lamar Odom added 20 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists for the Lakers, who ended a two-game slide to improve to 5-3 this season.
Andrew Bynum tallied 11 points with seven boards and Smush Parker had 10 points for Los Angeles, which put this game out of reach in the first half.
Mike Miller had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have lost four in a row and fell to 1-5 this season.
Ahead 11-10, LA closed the first quarter with a 12-4 run to go into the second with a nine-point lead, 23-14.
The Lakers kept Memphis at bay through the second quarter as well and ended the half with a 10-1 surge to take a 19-point lead into the locker room. Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant combined for eight points during the run, which gave LA a 49-30 lead.
Memphis never really threatened in the second half. La went into the fourth with a 72-62 lead and cruised through the final 12 minutes without a problem.
"We played good basketball," said Odom. "Everybody touched the ball. We had good chemistry. We could've played better in the second half, but we gave ourselves enough cushion to win."
