UCLA won the Pac-10 regular season championship this week, and earned the #1 seed in the Pac-10 Tournament that starts this Wednesday at the Staples Center. The Bruins have the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament on the line...
UCLA won the regular season conference championshp when it beat Washington State in Pullman Thursday.
With the loss in the regular season finale against Washington on Saturday, however, UCLA is still playing to secure the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. If UCLA wins the Pac-10 tournament this week, it would have a very good case for the #1 overall NCAA seed, being #1 in the RPI. And as we've said before, if UCLA wants to return to the Final Four, it's substantially easier to do so if it gets the #1 overall seed. That could mean the difference between playing the #8 overall seed and the #5 in the Elite Eight game. That could be a difference between, say, playing Mephis or North Carolina.

Joakim Noah (born February 25, 1985 in New York City) is a 7'0" American basketball player who currently plays for the University of Florida in the Southeastern Conference of the NCAA.
Joakim Noah is of French, Cameroonian, and Swedish descent, born to Yannick Noah, a former French professional tennis player and 1983 French Open Champion, and Cécilia Rodhe, Miss Sweden 1978. He competed on basketball teams for several high schools, first at the United Nations International School in New York City, later transferring to Poly Prep in Brooklyn, New York and then to Lawrenceville, outside of Princeton, New Jersey. At Lawrenceville, Noah averaged 24.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, leading his team to a New Jersey Prep 'A' state title.
